About Our Children’s Ballet Course
Ballet is not just dance training. For children, it is a special journey where discipline, grace, self-confidence and stage presence develop.
At Ekin Akbaş Ballet and Dance, we support our students’ physical, cognitive, emotional and social development with a holistic approach. Our programs are enriched by the contributions of our in-house occupational therapist and drama instructor; our students’ body awareness, creativity, communication skills and self-confidence are nurtured in a multifaceted way.
Our Children’s Ballet Course is a comprehensive program designed to suit students’ age and developmental levels, fostering discipline, a love of art and creativity together. While learning fundamental ballet techniques, students simultaneously gain posture, balance, coordination, a sense of rhythm and body awareness.
Our training is delivered by conservatory-graduate instructors experienced in child development, at our studio on Bağdat Avenue, Kadıköy. Students who successfully complete the 8-year foundation and 4-year advanced program earn an MEB-approved ballet instructor diploma following an in-house internship period.
Mini Ballet (Age 3) — First Step
Age 3 is a special period when a child first encounters music, movement and a group setting. Our Mini Ballet class is a play-based program designed specifically for this age group; young students meet ballet in a fun, pressure-free way through songs, rhythm games and imagination-based movement. There is no technical expectation at this stage — the goal is for the child to explore their body; to develop balance, coordination and a sense of rhythm; and to form a love-based bond with dance.
Mini Ballet also nurtures social-emotional skills such as cooperating within a group, taking turns, following simple instructions and self-expression. Progressing through age-appropriate, short and enjoyable sessions, the program prepares your child for the Preparatory Ballet classes ahead with confidence and a solid foundation.
Ages 4–6 Preparatory Ballet (Preschool / Little Ones)
Students aged 4–6 train in our Preparatory classes. During this period, the goal is for the child to form a love-based bond with ballet, to learn basic movements in a fun and safe environment, and to support their physical development. Classes are held 2 hours per week, and your child needs no prior experience.
Ages 6–12 Foundation and Technical Ballet Training
From age 6, students progress to Technical Ballet classes according to their physical readiness and level. While classical ballet foundations are developed systematically, Character Dance, Modern Dance and Jazz Dance are also introduced at advancing levels. Instruction is based on the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) methods; at the end of the term, students take part in performances where they gain stage experience.
